Quilting Services & Prices

Longarm quilting is a hand-guided art of passion. Each quilt takes an average of one hour regardless of size to "setup" on the machine’s table. Computerized perfection is not guaranteed nor is it an intrinsic part of the longarm quilting process. Please insure that your piecing and borders lie flat. Longarm quilting will not "fix" misaligned patchwork or the uneven borders that can cause your quilt to have puckers or tucks when quilted. Your quilt will be as free of pleats, fullness or tucks as your piecing allows.

*Pricing is determined by size of the quilt and complexity of design to be quilted. Prices start at .025 (2 1/2 cents) per square inch up to .040 (4 cents) per square inch. I have a minimum charge of $50.00. (Basting service for hand quilters has a $25.00 minimum) To estimate the quilting charge, simply multiply the length by the width of your top. Then multiply the amount charged for the service you have selected. Example: 60x60=3,600 (square inches) x .025 (cost)= $90.00.

*Simple Pantographs & Overall Designs: .025 (2 1/2 cents per sq. inch)

This covers less complex pantograph patterns and large scale free hand meander patterns. Hearts & loops, simple stars & loops, leaves, you get the idea.

*Complex Overall Designs & Custom: .026 - .030 (just under 2 cents to 3 cents per sq. inch)

Very complex or detailed pantograph patterns. Echo quilting, feathers, wreaths, sashings, border treatments, stitch in the ditch, or block designs. This may require the use of templates or free hand.

*Heirloom: .031-.04 (between 3 and 4 cents per sq. inch)

A more dense high detailed quilting. Heavy quilting. Some various methods used to achieve the heirloom look; block motifs, crosshatch, use of templates and specialty rulers.

*Trapunto: Determined after viewing your quilt top.

Using a high loft batting with the quilt top, then stitching around a selected design. The quilt top is then removed from the quilting machine and the excess batting is hand trimmed away. Quilt top is remounted with a lower loft batting of your choice and the backing. Small meandering around the design creates a wonderful "relief" finish. Good idea when the desire is to highlight particular designs.

*Basting: 0.005 (1/2 cent per square inch)

This service is offered to my hand quilting customers. $25.00 Minimum charge.

*Backing: Call for info on extra-wide backing selections & costs. Will seam backing I provide where necessary for $10.00 per seam.

*Binding: 0.10 – 0.25 (10 or 25 cents per linear inch)

0.10 per linear inch - machine attach binding to the front

0.25 per linear inch - machine attach to front and hand stitch to the back

(extra charge of $20 to prepare binding for attachment)

*Batting: Provide your own batting (subject to approval) or purchase from me

*Threads: I use only high-quality threads for quilting. Cotton, cotton-wrapped poly, variegated & metallic all in beautiful colors!

Minimum charge of $4.00 per spool. Minimum charge per quilt is $4.00. Color changes (if more that 2 colors used per quilt) is an additional $1.00 per color. Specialty threads such as glow-thread or metallics are a minimum of $8.00 - $11.00 per quilt.

I will confirm the total quilting fee with you before any work is done!
